![]() If a certain cat visits enough times, it leaves you a memento - usually something very strange, presumably found in another yard. Eventually, if you save up enough fish, you are able to remodel, either purchasing a bit more space or changing the look of the yard. The cats arrive, the cats leave you buy more food, put out new toys the cycle repeats. These fish are the currency used in the game to buy more food and toys, to attract more cats. ![]() When the cats disappear - when they’ve tired of their toys or beds or when the food is gone - they leave behind little fish, in silver and gold. Only one cat ever comes close to the act of eating: a fat white fluffy guy named Tubbs who lies on his back near the bowl, mouth still dirtied with food, extremely content. Sometimes, when interacting with a toy, the cats move. You never see them come or go they are simply there, at play or at rest. When the cats visit, you can photograph them and keep the photographs in your “Catbook,” a virtual photo album. The cats will visit, in varying quantity and kind, depending on what you put out for them. Also: boxes, space heaters, umbrellas, pots, a goldfish bowl and a cowboy hat. To entice them, you must leave out various foods (kibble, canned food, sashimi), toys (balls, yarn, a paper bag) and things to lie on (pillows, cushions, plush macaroons). ![]() The goal of Neko Atsume is to get cats to visit your virtual home and garden. If you enjoyed this episode of Ian's VR Corner, you can catch up with my previous adventures over on YouTube in our VR playlist, where I've covered Valheim VR's motion controls mod, Doom 3 VR Edition and everything we know about PSVR 2 so far. Neko Atsume VR is not a game that'll keep you busy for long periods of time but that's because it's not designed to be played that way. The flat version of Neko Atsume sticks pretty close to the mobile version of the game but crucially, it doesn't allow you to use cat toys to play with your kitties and quite honestly that's the best bit.Īs you'll see in the video, the gameplay on offer is pretty thin but the cute energy of the your feline visitors is undeniable and it'll be hard to keep a smile off your face whilst playing. While the best way to play Neko Atsume VR: Kitty Collector is of course in VR, it can also be enjoyed in flat mode by any Playstation owners who don't have access to a PSVR. Being a completely stationary game with only a few different viewpoints to choose from means that Neko Atsume VR is a perfect introduction to VR for newcomers of all ages. Neko Atsume VR: Kitty Collector is a seated experience and you'll only need a DualShock 4 in order to navigate the game's simple menus and interact with the cats. That meant that I had to create an American PSN account in order to purchase and play the game. While Neko Atsume VR is out now on the American PSN store it's not yet available here in Europe.
